Be open to uncertainty

Feelings of anxiety are a completely normal response to what’s happening worldwide right now. Uncertainty and lack of control affect all of us to varying degrees and the coronavirus has brought an abundance of both.

Acknowledging that we are in a period of uncertainty and accepting that this is how things are at the moment can help us to avoid struggling against something that can’t be changed right now – struggling against something that already exists just creates more stress and anxiety.

I recognise that it’s not an easy thing to do. This is a huge global challenge which is having a massive impact on all of us. But when we’re in an unpredictable, uncontrollable situation, sometimes one of the most helpful things we can do is to find a different way of relating to it.
